Trashion is OPAL’s longest-running event, closing in on two decades of turning trash into fashion, and now a tradition for OPAL and Cottage Grove.
Each year, designers transform recycled and reclaimed materials into wearable art—sometimes strikingly stylish, sometimes gloriously outlandish, and always imaginative. Part runway show, part creative challenge, Trashion highlights the power of reuse while showcasing the ingenuity, humor, and bold vision of a community that sees waste not as an endpoint, but as a beginning.

Always wanted to try something wildly creative? Trashion welcomes everyone—no experience needed—just your energy, a great attitude, and a healthy dose of imagination. You can design, model, or do both, working with materials you source yourself. The commitment includes two weekends of shows, a handful of meetings leading up to the event, and a technical rehearsal during the week of the show.
